Celebrating Innovators
Over 250 people attended our “Celebrating Innovators” benefit at The Rubin Museum of Art on March 13.
The event honored change-makers from a variety of fields who have worked to improve the quality of life and justice in New York. The honorees were: MaryAnne Gilmartin of L&L MAG; Sarah Williams of Propel Capital; Quardean Lewis-Allen of Made in Brownsville; and Janet DiFiore, chief judge of the New York State Unified Court System. The work of the award recipients, and their partnerships with the Center for Court Innovation, were highlighted in a short film unveiled at the event.
Tony- and Emmy Award-winning actor and activist Jeffrey Wright served as the master of ceremonies. According to Wright, “The Center for Court Innovation is about … helping folks at risk, folks in marginalized communities rewrite the narratives of their own stories, to break out of loops that lead to incarceration … so that they lead to more productive and full lives."
