Hailey Nolasco is devoted to putting people first, striving to foster vibrant supported communities through meaningful partnerships and coalition building efforts.
Currently, Hailey serves at the Director of Government Relations at the Center for Justice Innovation where she is working to support her colleagues on a multitude of issues ranging from increasing resources for mental health courts to understanding why youth carry guns to reduce gun violence.
Prior to this role, Hailey most recently served as the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs at the NYC Department of Social Services - the largest social service agency in the world where she managed key intergovernmental and community initiatives including responses to the migrant crisis. With experience in government affairs, Hailey also served as a Deputy Chief of Staff and Budget Director at the NYC City Council.
In addition to her work in government affairs, Hailey is known for her anti-gun violence work. By way of a calling through her own lived experiences, Hailey mentored youth most at risk of being harmed by violence and spearheaded interventions to address the intersection of gun and domestic violence, notably leading the creation of the RISE program, a city-wide effort to address domestic violence through services, training, and intervention for abusive partners who are not involved in the criminal legal system. Further, Hailey also worked to provide training and technical assistance to non-for-profit anti-violence organizations to help them expand and strengthen their capacity.
Throughout her work, she has also participated in a variety of steering committees focusing on community solutions to intimate partner violence, restorative justice, improving law enforcements responses to people with mental health experiences, and increasing civic engagement amongst formerly incarcerated populations.
In both her personal and professional life, she has worked on coalition building, policy analysis, strategic planning, program implementation and evaluation in public and not-for profit sectors at federal and local levels. Hailey is a results-driven leader with the proven ability t conceptualize and execute innovative, sustainable program initiatives.
Hailey holds a Master of Public Administration from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, specializing in both Management and Operations, and Criminal Justice Administration, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of Staten Island and is Brooklyn born by way of parents from the Dominican Republic and is an adjunct professor at Brooklyn college.
