- Brooklyn Young Adult Court
Saadiq Newton-Boyd, a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, began his journey with the Center for Court Innovation in 2010 as a member of the Greenpoint Youth Court and has since served in many different capacities and has worked at many Center sites including the Red Hook Community Justice Center, Bronx Community Solutions, and Brooklyn Justice Initiatives; bringing a strong commitment to serving individuals that have been intercepted by the criminal legal system and a lens to how those systems impact individuals, their families, and communities. Over the years, Saadiq has worked to support alternatives to incarceration, early diversion, and pre-trial supervision programming and interventions. Currently, Saadiq is the Community Affairs Manager with the Brooklyn Supervised Release Program at Brooklyn Justice Initiatives. In this role, Saadiq works to support participants directly in the community, rather than the courthouse, and connect with community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, local businesses, and other community groups to broaden the network of support and resource linkages available to program participants. Saadiq also serves on the Center’s Leadership Team and co-chairs on the Race & Justice, and Equity Councils.
