Jeffrey Sharlein

Jeffrey Sharlein is a Principal Research and Data Associate at the Center for Court Innovation. In this role, he performs on-site research and data support at a number of Center programs. Current projects include routine data analysis at Newark Community Solutions, a Bureau of Justice Assistance-supported evaluation of the Brooklyn Mental Health Court, and an impact evaluation of the Strong Starts Court Initiative. Outside of his work at the Center, Jeff has been involved in research related to lawbreaking and justice system involvement among youth from marginalized communities, outcomes of juvenile waiver policies, neighborhood effects, and statelessness (lack of any citizenship) in the United States. Jeff also has a background in social work education and clinical practice, and holds a BA from Wesleyan University, an MSW from Hunter College, and a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania.
