Supervised Release is as effective as bail at ensuring people make their court appearances, sparing them the documented harms of pretrial detention and allowing them to receive supportive services in their community. In 2022, Supervised Release providers in New York City served about 17,000 participants. This virtual panel and discussion, hosted by the Center for Justice Innovation in collaboration with Philanthropy NY and New York Youth Justice Initiative (NYJJI), highlights the pivotal role Supervised Release plays as an alternative to jail, as an essential component of effective bail reform, and as a way to achieve public safety for all.
