How do we center the needs and experiences of queer and trans youth in community spaces? The Youth Action Institute hosted a virtual panel on this topic on June 27, 2022, featuring three panelists: Jaz Saint Victor and Lynx Z from TeensPact, and Alison Reba from Project NIA and BYP100. Panelists discussed what queerness means to them as individuals and as organizers, the importance of affirming community space for identity exploration, and how all people benefit from LGBTQ-affirming spaces. Panelists also spoke about the need for queer-affirming spaces to be more inclusive of other marginalized identities, and what changes could be made to make all spaces better for queer and trans youth.
