This fact sheet summarizes the mission and impact of Manhattan Justice Opportunities, an initiative of the Center for Justice Innovation that helps build safer communities and a fairer justice system. Manhattan Justice Opportunities does this by providing social services and supportive resources as effective alternatives to the traditional responses to crime and works to empower people to make positive changes in their lives. This reduces incarceration and the harms caused by criminal justice involvement—harms that disproportionately impact Black and Brown New Yorkers.
