Giving Tuesday Updates: Be a Changemaker
Your dedication and support allow our changemakers to transform the justice system. That makes you a changemaker, too.
Thank you for your commitment to making our world better and being a Changemaker with us this Giving Tuesday!
The Center for Court Innovation is grateful for you and your support of our work to build a more fair, effective, and humane justice system. Changemakers like you propel systemic change.
If you missed Giving Tuesday, you can still take a step toward change by donating.

Meet Saadiq.
Saadiq Newton-Boyd first walked in the Center for Court Innovation’s doors in 2009 as a high schooler participating in one of our after-school youth leadership programs. Today, he works full-time with us as a community affairs manager. This Giving Tuesday, your donation’s impact is Saadiq’s impact.
“Every day when I step outside, I see potential in the community,” Saadiq says. Through the pandemic, the Center for Court Innovation has supported individuals to help them stay safely in their homes rather than go to Rikers Island. Saadiq has been able to ensure they have access to a wide range of community-based services, such as mental health and employment support, to help them stay connected to jobs, families and the larger community.
Changemakers dig deep and face challenges head-on. “I want to understand what is happening beneath the surface with individuals. It’s easy to go into a community and identify what it is you think they need, when, in fact, they already have the answers,” Saadiq says. With your donation today, we will re-center communities and “let them be the experts that they are.”
Today is Giving Tuesday, a day to celebrate changemakers like you and Saadiq by donating. Give by midnight to double your gift and make your impact go twice as far.

We need a justice system that centers humanity.
For 25 years, the Center for Court Innovation has been promoting change inside and outside the justice system. We serve as a bridge between government and communities, channeling resources and strengthening partnerships to get things done. We need changemakers like you to create lasting transformative change.
Today starts the seven-day countdown to Giving Tuesday, and I am excited to announce that all donations made now through November 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by fellow changemaker and Advisory Board Member Cecily Carson through the Carson Family Charitable Trust.
When you support the Center on Giving Tuesday you help:
- Decrease jail populations: The Center advises and supports across-the-board efforts to decrease jail populations across the country, especially in New York City. We also run programs that provide critical services in lieu of jail to allow individuals to remain safely in their communities.
- Increase opportunities: The Center works with communities to promote safety, equity, and opportunity through economic development, reviving public spaces, and connecting people together.
Now is your chance to have your donation matched!

The Center for Court Innovation is made up of connectors, thinkers, and doers—all of them changemakers. Some provide alternatives to incarceration to keep people safely out of jail. Others work with families in the child welfare system to promote healing and reduce trauma. Many work with communities to prevent gun violence, create safe and vibrant public spaces, and promote economic development.
Our changemakers provide hands-on help to thousands of people a year. At the same time, they bridge the gap between communities and government to build a fair, humane justice system.
