The Center for Justice Innovation provides hands-on, expert assistance to reformers around the world. Having launched dozens of innovative justice initiatives, we know first-hand the nuts and bolts of getting a new project off the ground—and how to make sure projects are meeting their goals.
Our assistance takes many forms, including help with analyzing data, facilitating planning sessions, and hosting site visits to our operating programs in the New York City area.
Qualifying jurisdictions may be eligible for assistance free of charge. We also provide help on a fee-for-service basis.
We host visitors from around the world at model programs in and around New York City. We also coordinate visits to mentor programs around the country. These include community courts, other problem-solving courts, youth programs, and community-based projects. During a site visit, visitors are able to see innovative programs in action and meet with local staff and stakeholders.
We have a range of experts on staff who conduct presentations at local, regional, and national trainings on a broad range of topics—from community justice to domestic violence and more. We also maintain a roster of practitioners and other external experts who can meet unique training needs.
We maintain online learning resources on a variety of topics, including drug court; procedural justice and courtroom communication; and other topics. Other online learning resources can be found on our area of focus pages.
We offer hands-on assistance that includes help with planning and implementation for a range of projects. We conduct site assessments on topics like procedural justice and evidence-based practices. We draft and review program policies and manuals. And we offer general troubleshooting and strategic planning. In some cases, assistance may be available at no cost where we have specific grants to cover our work. Please ask us for more details.
Our in-house researchers can provide a broad range of assistance, including conducting independent evaluations and providing technical assistance on the implementation of evidence-based strategies and the development of customized performance monitoring systems.
