Innovative, Equitable, and Accessible
Last week, The New York Times ran an editorial, "Bold Plans for New York Courts," describing New York State Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman's vision for justice reform in New York.
The editorial highlighted two Center for Court Innovation projects:
- Poverty Justice Solutions is a new program launched with the help of the Robin Hood Foundation that will provide fellowships for 20 new attorneys to represent low-income New Yorkers in Housing Court.
- Brownsville Community Justice Center is an effort to reduce crime and improve public trust in justice in Brownsville, Brooklyn by providing meaningful alternatives to incarceration and a range of crime prevention activities.
Chief Judge Lippman recently sat down for an interview with Center for Court Innovation Director Greg Berman. Moving the Mountains is an edited transcript of their wide-ranging conversation. Video highlights of the conversation can be found here.
