National training on community courts - May 7-9, 2018 in Birmingham, Alabama
Please join us in Birmingham, Alabama, May 7-9, to discuss and learn more about how local justice systems can work with communities to increase public safety.
For three days, with the support of the U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance, we will hear from national experts, justice practitioners, and leading researchers.
Topics covered will range from emerging community court models to responses to homelessness, opioids, mental health needs, and other issues.
Scheduled speakers include Alex Calabrese of the Red Hook Community Justice Center, Nashville Public Defender Dawn Deaner, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, Angela Hawken of New York University, Deborah Koetzle of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, former New York State Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, Dr. Bryant Marks of Morehouse College, former Newark Municipal Court Chief Judge Victoria Pratt, Birmingham Municipal Court Presiding Judge Andra Sparks, architect Deanna Van Buren, and many more.
