“I knew he was trying to kill me, and I just braced myself on the floor,” says Katherine, describing a near fatal assault by her abusive partner. “The first bullet pierced my right thigh, and all I can think of is, ‘Lord Jesus, please don't let it hurt.’”

Katherine’s voice is the first you hear in the newest of our series of short films about innovative efforts to respond to domestic violence in communities across the United States. Thanks to the intervention of a team of committed justice reformers, Katherine managed to find a pathway to safety. 

Telling stories like Katherine’s is part of our larger commitment to promoting justice reform. Our YouTube channel showcases new approaches to advancing procedural justice, working with justice-involved young people, and aiding individuals reentering communities across America following incarceration.
