Under this initiative, 15 jurisdictions receive funding and technical assistance to launch or enhance community courts. Recent projects have included spearheading the Center's role as site coordinator and technical assistance provider for the Minority Youth Violence Prevention initiative, a joint effort of the U.S. Department of Justice's Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Minority Heath. Previously, Mr. Lang served as the coordinator of the Midtown Community Court—the Center’s first demonstration project—in Manhattan’s Times Square neighborhood. Prior to joining the Midtown Community Court, Mr. Lang was chief of staff to New York City’s Commissioner of Housing Preservation and Development.
