The Center for Justice Innovation is driven by a singular idea: local communities are critical to transforming justice. We believe the only way to create safe, flourishing neighborhoods is with a full-spectrum approach that runs from communities to systems and back again.
We call that approach Community Justice.
Community Justice requires going beyond the sectors traditionally associated with public safety, enlisting all of government and civil society to create lasting solutions—from service providers and court administrators to residents, local businesses, researchers, and policymakers.
Drawing on our decades of experience building Community Justice in New York, New Jersey, and across the country, this guide outlines five key action steps to drive community-led, evidence-based change in communities of all shapes and sizes.
