Numbers and Narratives
Our annual report provides a snapshot of our ongoing efforts to promote reform and offer pathways out of the justice system.
Since we launched our first initiative in 1993, the Center for Court Innovation has been in constant motion, developing new ideas and launching new programs to address the justice system’s many challenges.
Our annual report provides a snapshot of our ongoing efforts to promote reform in a wide range of areas. We are reducing the use of incarceration. We are providing trauma-informed programming for victims of violence and human trafficking. We are implementing restorative justice in schools. And we are providing free legal information to residents of low-income communities. All told, in 2018, we touched the lives of tens of thousands of people, offering pathways out of the justice system and towards a better future.
Our annual report offers a detailed look at some of this work. It tells our story through statistics, press coverage, and personal narratives from people we have worked with, including New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, who said: "I was really amazed by the Midtown Community Court's programs and the excellent results. People were given real assistance that helped divert them from the criminal justice system, which is exactly what we want."
