Brooklyn Young Adult Court

BYAC team

The Brooklyn Young Adult Court seeks to provide meaningful alternatives to conventional prosecution for young people, ages 18 to 24, charged with misdemeanors.

Created in partnership with the New York State court system and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office, the Brooklyn Young Adult Court provides young adult defendants with mandated and voluntary social services—overseen by our Brooklyn Justice Initiatives program—allowing them to avoid the negative effects of criminal convictions and incarceration and connecting them to the resources needed to avoid future justice-system involvement.
